Today in class, we discussed fingerprints and different types. The three different types are the following: whorl, arch, and loop. There are definitely more but these are the three main. Fingerprints help the police because, if the person who took the diamond or stole the money from the safe and so on, they could match the fingerprint to the suspect and find out who is the culprit. Scientists study not only the different type of fingerprint, but what kind’s different people have. This helps people a lot to solve and close the case of a crime.

They think by looking deeply at and studying it for a while till they exactly find out who it is.
They work and act by, Making sure nothing happens to it and no one touches it so they don’t think that someone else did it that didn’t.

Because by studying it carefully and having there Suspects it helps them because all they end up having to do is match them up with the suspects.

Today the types of fingerprints we learned about are a whorl, loop, and an arch. A whorl is like the wind, and like a pebble in the water. A loop is like the waves and the arch is like a mountain. Finger Prints help police/forensic scientist solve a crime by, The D.N.A in the finger. They would match it up with the finger prints on the crime scene to see if you were part of the crime. They analyze the finger prints that were on the crime scene.

Today we began studying fingerprints. We (i) learned that there are many different types of fingerprints. I learned that all fingerprints are abstract. There are 3 fingerprints that are used a lot; whirl, loop and arch. If you scan a fingerprint you would be able to figure out who it is because every fingerprint is different in its own way. If bobs fingerprint is left on Jill’s soda can it is possible that he drank it. Policeman, detectives, forensic and etc. Study or analyze fingerprints to solve Jill’s case. Police and detectives take not on the scene they don’t mess with the scene but they do examine the scene.

Scientist act, think and work by taking the fingerprint samples to a lab and analyze them. They think about their suspects and then they talk to the suspects and analyze their fingerprints. My group discovered many different types of fingerprints. But the top discovery’s where whorls, loops and arches. A whorl, which most people have, looks like a swirl, arches look like mountains and loops look like narrow ovals. I think that most people have swirl because on the board every single group wrote down a swirl whenever we were comparing observations. Fingerprints help police/forensic scientists because if someone committed a crime and they left finger prints, and they had a sore on their thumb, they could just take all the suspects finger prints and bam! Case closed. Scientists work very carefully when dealing with finger prints to notice a distinct definition or difference in the finger print to look for when analyzing the suspect’s fingers.

Today we discovered first our own fingerprints and analyzed them. My group came up with words like swirl, mountain, and dot. But the real scientific words are whorl, loop, and arch. The way fingerprints helps the police and forensic scientist is by a process. First they would get the fingerprints and take them to the lab. After that they would run it through the system to see if they have already committed a crime. After that if they were lucky he would be in the system which means it gives the address of him, phone number, passport and anything that can help them. For the third question the way they would act would have to be very careful. They would have to first identify it. After that you would swipe the fingerprint through the system and it would do the work from there.

I discovered that there are a lot of similar features to everyone’s finger prints. The three most found finger print types were Swirls, Waves and Mountains. It was really interesting because you would think that everyone has a totally different finger print. The characteristics of everyone’s finger prints are abstract. The official way of saying to the top 3 features are Whorl, Loop and Arch. They help the police and forensic scientists by identifying whose finger print it is. If they find a finger print on the crime scene. They would take the finger print and take a finger print of the suspect. If they finger print matches they would be able to infer and know who did the crime. Scientists really have to think hard, they can’t not think. When you observe you really have take in all the details, even the littlest stuff. So if there was a dot than you would have to write it down. When you analyze a finger print you have to look really closely.

Today I found the three main types of fingerprints whorl, loop, and arch. I found all of them on my own fingers. Fingerprint analyzing can help police/forensic scientists because if a crime is committed they can analyze the fingerprints that they find at the crime scene. Then they can match it with one of the suspects if the person, who committed the crime, has a cut or sore on the finger, they will see it on the fingerprint of the person. Forensic scientists are basically detectives because they have to figure out who committed the crime. While the scientist analyzes the finger they will try to find a match to the fingerprint. They will notice things that are not usually on an everyday fingerprint. They will think back to seeing the suspects and if the suspects had anything weird on their fingers and analyze it.

Today we discovered the Loop, the Whorl, and the Arch. The Loop can be best described as a hill or a wave because it goes up and has a rounded top then goes down. The Whorl can be described a swirl because it swirls in to the middle. The Arch can be described as a mountain because it goes up with a pointed top then goes down at an angle.

Fingerprint analysis helps forensic scientists catch criminals who have a past criminal record. If you are a convicted criminal then you have your fingerprints in the system. So if you commit another crime you are identified. Finger prints can prove someone innocent. If your fingerprints are not a murder weapon then they don’t have evidence against you.

First scientists look at the fingerprint for any characteristics. Then they look at if the fingerprints match anyone in the system. Then they try to find that person. This is how they work.

Today I discovered what my fingerprints were, they were whirls and loops. I also discovered that many things are the same in our whole home room finger prints, like whirls, loops and arches. If there was a kid in our class who stole something off of Mrs.Scollins desk but, put both hands on the desk Mrs.Scollins would be able to analyze the fingerprints to match the student who stole the thing. This could possibly be a reasonable way to detect a criminal of any crime. When scientists are analyzing a fingerprint they are probably very silent and they must be very, very patient. Scientists are also professionals so they know what they’re doing.

My group found all three of the types of finger prints (whorl, loop, arch) in our finger prints. Some people had all three in their fingers some people only had one kind. Finger print analysis helps police and forensic scientists by telling them who was at the scene of the crime so that they don’t accuse the wrong person. Also it tells them what they did when the crime was committed. I think the scientists are very careful when taking finger prints so that they don’t accidentally record their own finger prints. I think when the scientists are taking the prints they think about detail and the track the lines on the finger print take.

They also have to look for marks or ridges in the suspects fingerprint. This takes a very long process. Today at school, I learned about the whorl, loop and arch fingerprints. Fingerprint analysis help detectives because when there is a crime, the police look at the fingerprints and use the suspects fingerprints to see if they mach. If they don't mach, he isn’t accused of the crime, if they do mach then he is the criminal that committed the crime. When scientists find a finger print at the scene, they first take a zoomed-in on the print, while the police ask the suspects to print their fingerprints on a sheet of paper. Then the police take the paper with prints to the scientist to compare to the one on the photo. Another way they identify fingerprints is the scientists use the DNA that they might find on the fingerprint. With that DNA, they identify the criminal that committed the crime.

I discovered whorls (waves), loops (swirls), and arches (mountains). Fingerprints can be similar and different. They aren't always one type; they can be a combination of 2 or 3. (Ie. whorl and arch; whorl, loop, arch; etc.) Analyzing fingerprints helps because all fingerprints are different which means scientists could identify someone better than analyzing footprints because someone could have the same shoe. Scientists need to work very meticulously. If they smudge the fingerprint, the fingerprint is useless. I think I wouldn't be the best Forensic scientist because I am not very steady which is important in science.

How does this help? Well, it can create suspects and help close the case. Like if a scientist looks around on glass or on a gun. I discovered the loop, whorl and arch. I learned that all fingerprints are not the same. The fingerprints could have been curved and had swerved into other lines but the most common affects were the loop, whorl and the arch.

I think this helps the police to solve a delinquency and to get a better understanding of the suspects. It helps them also to become better educated with investigations and to help the people of the community stay safe. This also helps them pick and choose from the suspects and to find the delinquent and to figure out who may have committed the crime.

I think the scientists are usually busy working and it must take time analyzing fingerprints and to work on the scanning. It must be hard work analyzing and creating theories about crime scenes. I think they have done a good job solving crimes.

i discovered loops, dark on tops lighter on the bottoms and light on top dark on bottom, swiggle,lines,mountains,triangles,waves and dots. i think they can because if you stole something like jewlery from a store they can take your hair if it fell or sweat or if it dripped or they found your finger prints. also take finger prints from a witness or something involved in it and maybe find out who was there or who did it or who was involved with it. they work with gloves and twesers probably if they hold something they could maybe put their dna in it and ruin the sample of it and get in trouble. or if they ruin it they can suspect him or her. they could also throw them in jail for robbing.

I think that they are helpful because when a crime has been committed and the evidence has fingerprints all over it, it is easier to tell the story of the crime. When a scientist is working with a fingerprint they must be very careful not to touch it or do anything to the print that will affect the process of finding the victim. Also they must not jump to a conclusion of who did the crime because as we learned in class, fingerprints are never exactly the same but they definitely have many similarities.

Scientists usually think about the shape of the print and what inferences can be made after a thorough analysis. They act as if it is a serious procedure, since it is. I have discovered swirls, waves, and arches in fingerprint today. They are almost always a reliable source to go to at a crime scene. All fingerprints are different, like snow flakes. If I was a criminal, I would wear gloves whenever I would do a crime. Fingerprints are the first ting to go to in a crime scene if there are no suspects. If I were a scientist at a crime scene I would take a fingerprint test on any of the things that was not touched by the victim.

Today I discovered many types of fingerprints. Such as, arched fingerprints, swirled fingerprints, waved fingerprints ect.. but all thumb, pointer and inky where not much different from each other. I think fingerprint analysis helps police/forensic scientists because every finger is different. Even from the slightest difference. But if you take one and others fingerprints, you would find not totally, but a difference. this will help with a crime scene a lot. I think scientists have to observe every little detail on a fingerprint, so it will make them more focused when the are analyzing a fingerprint.

Today I discovered a lot of different kinds of finger prints! Some of them were really cool! There were loops, all different kinds of swirls, and I also saw a lot of lines everywhere and so many different shapes. Some were lighter and darker than others, but my group found that the first one we did, was the darkest. What I also noticed was that my thumb was really smudged.

Finger print analysis helps police officers and forensic scientists because, say a criminal touched the ground that was filthy, and then had to take the fingerprint thing. It would prove to them exactly where they were, and what they were doing. So that would help them solve the mystery a little more. How scientists think, work or acts when analyzing finger prints is they look at it with magnifying glasses and while there doing that there really looking to see what is on the finger prints, is there swirls, is one darker or lighter than the others, is there something unusual on it? That’s the kind of stuff they do. If there is something unusual on it then maybe that will help them solve the crime! They should act very seriously when there in this process. It can be hard at time really seeing what’s going on in a finger print!

I discovered three types of fingerprints today:
• Whirls- a circular type of fingerprint
• Loops- a fingerprint that goes in layers to a location where the fingerprint lines then move back
• Arch- a fingerprint that has layers and layers of mountain-like lines

Fingerprints help police and scientists to trace a murder from a murder weapon back to a suspect or if the body is unrecognizable tracing the fingerprint to who got killed. They trace the fingerprint back to the suspect or victim by using a large fingerprint database to match the fingerprints. Scientists, when working with fingerprints, will thing about whose fingerprints are these? Where these fingerprints of a killer, or a bystander?
